E10 Fuel Overview Webinar

Discover the new petrol spreading across the UK.

What Is E10 Fuel?

Learn about the Change and How It Affects You

As you may have heard, the new E10 petrol has recently become the norm at petrol stations across the UK. So what is E10, will it work in your car, and why is it being adopted now? In this short 8-minute webinar, you will learn everything you need to know about E10 fuel.

What Is E10 Fuel?

By Spring 2022, all of the UK had adopted a new grade of petrol called E10. E10 is a fuel for petrol engines that contains 10% ethanol from plant-based sources. We’ll delve into what exactly this fuel is made of and what its benefits are. We’ll also go over answers to common questions like is ethanol the same as alcohol, how does it compare to regular petrol, why is it better than E5, and can you mix E5 and E10?

Why the Change to E10?

The government’s primary motive for adopting E10 is to follow the example set by other countries to reduce fossil fuel production related pollution. So does ethanol really have a measurable effect on carbon emissions? To understand its global environmental impact, we’ll highlight some examples of how the E10 transition is reducing CO2 emissions. We’ll also examine how the transition to E10 will affect the cost of filling up your car.

You’ll find out whether E10 affects your car’s eligibility to enter clean air or ultra-low emission zones. We’ll also look at whether E10 will lower your fuel economy and whether you can use E10 fuel with lawnmowers, motorbikes, or other combustion-powered devices.

Will E10 Work in My Car?

E10 petrol stations are rapidly becoming the norm across the UK. If you drive an older model vehicle, it’s a good idea to confirm whether your car is one of the 5% of cars that can’t use E10 petrol. Some drivers of older vehicles, even cars considered “classics,” might be surprised to learn that their car is E10 compatible!

Is the New E10 Fuel Safe?

You’d never put diesel in a petrol-powered car, so what about E10? Learn how to easily distinguish between E10 fuel pumps and regular petrol pumps to avoid putting E10 in the wrong car. Find out what to do if you accidentally put E10 in an incompatible car. Learn about the corrosion-resistant parts automakers must use to ensure their vehicle can withstand E10 fuel. We’ll discuss which specific parts can corrode and break over time due to incompatibility with ethanol.

What You Will Learn in Our Webinar

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • What E10 is actually made of
  • How to find out if your car is E10 compatible
  • What to do if your car isn’t compatible with E10

You’ll also learn how E10 can corrode non-compatible vehicle engines and how to handle misfueling a non-compatible car with E10.

Afterwards, you will find downloadable materials about the new fuel called E10, including Frequently Asked Questions and a list of compatible manufacturers. There is also a link to the government website to search if your specific model of vehicle is compatible with E10.
