How to Interpret Foreign Language Fitment Plate Markings

Fitting clutch friction plates can be more complicated than it seems. Since the design of friction plates can vary by manufacturer, it’s a good idea to always check to see which way to fit it. So what do you do if the label reads “Getriebeseite”? In this 7-minute free webinar, you will learn common foreign language markings for clutch friction plate fitment.

How to Fit a Clutch Friction Plate Properly

Most of the time, when you fit a clutch friction plate, the procedure is straightforward. Still, some commonly used rules of thumb aren’t always accurate, so it’s important to check the markings on the friction plate for instructions to avoid making an error. We’ll give you tips for removing and fitting friction plates and how to correctly identify the fitment orientation.

How to Interpret Fitment Instructions

Even when friction plate fitment instructions are in English, the terminology can be inconsistent or abbreviated. We’ll clarify the common terms you might find on a clutch friction plate in English. While these instructions are mostly in English, sometimes foreign manufacturers can label the parts in another language. We’ll also teach you some common Italian, German, and French terms to label these parts.
