Valeo Leading the Way in Electrification

1

With road transport currently contributing to 18% of global CO2 emissions, the automotive industry is in need of a major transformation. Reducing this carbon footprint is essential, and the shift to electric and hybrid vehicles is a key part of the solution.

As electric vehicles increasingly replace traditional internal combustion engines, Valeo’s leadership in electrification is pushing the industry forward. Valeo supplies components for one in three hybrid and electric cars worldwide.

Born to Electrify the Aftermarket

Leveraging its OE expertise, Valeo is fully committed to rapidly bringing these cutting-edge technologies to the aftermarket.

With over 6,000 essential references, Valeo’s extensive aftermarket range supports the maintenance and repair of electric and hybrid vehicles. This ensures reliable performance and extended vehicle lifespan.

Valeo is also dedicated to providing workshops with the necessary support/training to help them through this EV transition.

Thermal Management: A Crucial Factor for EVs

Thermal Management: A Crucial Factor for EVs

Valeo is driving innovation in thermal management systems for electrified vehicles, by enhancing safety, improving comfort, and increasing energy efficiency. Valeo provides cutting-edge thermal solutions for all OEMs globally. Thermal management is vital for battery performance, fast charging, and vehicle range. It has four key functions: battery temperature control, heat recovery, electronics cooling, and range extension. Valeo's new components, such as heat pumps and advanced thermal modules, address ultra-fast charging and energy efficiency.

Without standardized architectures, each model requires specific expertise and ongoing training. Valeo Service supports garages in adapting to these developments with training programs, documentation, and technical assistance.

Powering Electrification: Valeo’s High-Voltage and EV Retrofit Solutions

High voltage systems (anything above 60V) allow for efficient use of power. Valeo’s innovative high-voltage products include inverters, onboard chargers (OBC), eDrive, reducers, and integrated systems like x-in-one. Furthermore, to complement its electrification offerings, Valeo has developed a comprehensive range of charging solutions for electric and hybrid vehicles, including charging cables, mobile chargers, and charging stations.

Last but not least, the aftermarket offers new opportunities for EV retrofitting, enabling garages to support the shift to electrification. Retrofit solutions convert existing diesel vehicles into electric ones, offering an affordable option for professionals with Light Commercial Vehicles to comply with ZEV zones.

Soft Electrification and 48V

Leading the Way: Valeo’s Pioneering 48V Hybrid Technology

Valeo introduced the first 48V Mild Hybrid system in 2012, and is now a key player in various applications of 48V technology. This includes small electric mobility solutions ideal for cities, light electric vehicles capable of speeds up to 100 km/h, and Mild Hybrid vehicles that combine a 48V system with a conventional engine to boost fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. Additionally, 48V systems are integrated into hybrid vehicles, allowing them to operate solely on electric power. Valeo has developed functions such as advanced Stop-Start, torque assist, regenerative braking, and coasting to help reduce fuel consumption by approximately 5%.
